Discovery 2 TD5 ES
This is one of our own personal cars, but the time has come to find it a new home. It has been a great car for us and has never let us down. It is very good in all the right places and we looked at many of these before we bought this one...as you will know if you are looking for one of these, there are a lot of 'dogs' around that have had a very hard life and have probably been regular accommodation for sheep and chickens!
This car has always been maintained throughout its life and we have recently had the following work carried out;
- New starter motor
- 2 new tyres
- New brakes
- New air-suspension compressor
- New suspension link bars
- ECU refurbished
The above are all common and well known issues with these cars and the new owner will have the peace of mind that the work has been completed. The automatic gearbox was also re-built at 112k miles with a bill exceeding £1500. Mechanically, this car is as good as you will find. It starts first time, every time and will pretty much take you anywhere on any terrain. Before you ask are there any oil leaks?, every Land Rover enthusiast will know that these cars were born with oil leaks...if you can fix and eliminate them then we would love to meet you...with nigh on 20 years Land Rover experience, we have never met anyone that can! The twin sunroofs have also been sealed to eliminate any leaks. The remote central locking can also be a little bit temperamental on the passenger side.
First registered on the 28th May 1999, the TD5 ES 7 seat was the very highest specification at the time. In addition to the high standard specification, our car is also fitted with the desire-able options of side-steps and tow pack.
Finished in metallic gold with beige leather interior, this car presents very well. These cars are prone to rusting/rotting around the front windscreen, rear wheel arch tubs, D posts etc...ours is excellent in all these areas. There are a couple of small car park dinks in a couple of places, but the car does look very well and is in very good condition. Around the windscreen is excellent, as are the wheel arches, D posts etc...the chassis is completely solid. Under the bonnet again presents very well and is free from corrosion.
Internally the car is nice and clean. All seats are in good condition and free from damage. The leather does show some small signs of wear but it is more than presentable. The door cards and carpets are good and the headlining is also good. All electrics are in full working order and the dashboard is free from any warning lights.
The original service book is stamped with a mixture of main dealer and specialist stamps. A host of old MOT certificates and old tax discs are present, along with the current V5 registration document and two keys.
In summary, if you are in the market for a Discovery 2, then this is a very, very good example that has had the inherent and costly mechanicals taken care of.
