A lovely, un-molested 1991 Peugeot 309 GTI with 69948 miles and a superb and comprehensive history file...
A very rare sight these days and good examples are just getting more and more difficult to find. Living in the shadows of its smaller sibling, the legendary 205 GTI, the 309 GTI was very under-rated in its day and it is only of late that people are starting to wake up to them. In our opinion, the 309 is equally as good to drive as the 205, yet represents far better value for money.
First registered on the 23rd August 1991 by the main Peugeot dealer, Henlys of Norwich, the supplying dealer number plates still remain front and rear. Finished in Miami Blue Metallic, the paint finish is still as striking as it would have been in 1991, and the car really does look superb. Still wearing all of its factory fitted panels, the panel gap is very good and equal to any other Peugeot of this era. The car is straight and ripple free and it is very difficult to fault. All plastic mouldings and bumpers are excellent and the Red inserts are still nice and bright. All the factory fitted glass is excellent and is security etched with the registration number. A Blue sunroof wind deflector is fitted and just adds to the period charm. A truly stunning looking car that has evidently been loved and cherished throughout its life...
The interior, again is lovely. Finished in Blue velour with Blue carpets, the colour combination just compliments the Miami Blue so well. We are genuine Peugeot GTI lovers of this era, and we must admit, we have never seen another GTI in this colour combination! The seats are excellent and showing very, very little signs of wear. The carpets, door cards, headlining etc.. are again excellent. A period CD player is fitted, however we do have the original Clarion Radio Cassette. Black GTI carpet mats with Blue piping are fitted throughout and just finish the interior off nicely. All switchgear is fully functional and in good order and all gauges work perfectly.
The alloy wheels are the standard and correct Speedline and are shod with good quality matching tyres with plenty of tread remaining. The alloy wheels are in excellent condition and look superb. A fifth alloy wheel is still fitted underneath the car.
Mechanically the car is superb. Still completely standard apart from the fitment of a Magnex stainless steel exhaust. Please note that we do have a standard exhaust system that will be supplied with the car. Having covered just 69948 miles from new, this car has never wanted for anything. The history file is amongst the best and most comprehensive that we have ever seen with any car. Every single MOT certificate is present, from its first one in 1994, right up to its most current one, carried out in April of this year. Every single receipt has been filed correctly...be it a replacement bulb or a clip or a full service...everything is documented and the file is approximately two inches thick...17 service stamps are present within the original service book. It is just lovely to see!
We have currently got the car booked in next week with our local independent garage to have a full service, including a cam belt change, just for peace of mind.
The car drives superbly and exactly how these cars should. It pulls incredibly strong from very low revs and the gearbox is precise and smooth. The brakes are still pin sharp. These cars are still capable of putting a huge smile on your face and anyone that has never driven one...you really should!
This stunning example has been fastidiously maintained and cherished by a total of just three owners in its lifetime. Registered in August 1991, the car was traded back in to the supplying Peugeot dealer in August 1993. It then found its second and very long term ownership in September 1993 and it remained in this gents care until April 2015. It was then purchased by its third and final owner...again, a genuine Peugeot enthusiast
If you are looking for a genuinely lovely example that has lead a pampered life, then you will not be disappointed
