A truly exceptional 1980 Ford Escort MK2 1.3 L which has covered just 14,541 miles from new. With first ownership for 29 years and enthusiast owned since, this incredible little car really will be difficult to beat...even the supplying dealer pdi sheet is still present within the history file!

Still wearing all of it's factory fitted panels some 38 years after rolling off the production line, this car sits and lines up perfectly. Factory date stamps, spot welds and factory sealer are just delightful to see and clearly confirm this cars originality. You can't replicate that. Door hinges, check straps and the body side mouldings have clearly never been disturbed. The boot floor and spare wheel well are faultless. The factory paintwork is exceptional throughout and is virtually impossible to fault. The original factory fitted glass is unmarked. Window rubbers and weather strips are still supple and evidence that this car has been garaged correctly throughout it's life. The chrome door handles, window surrounds and bumpers really are superb. Period Britax front driving lamps are fitted and in excellent condition. The door frames are un-marked and the factory stamps are clear for all to see on the underside of the doors...just lovely! Head lights, indicators and rear lights are as new.

Pdi marks are clearly visible throughout including the strut tops, front cross member bolts, rear leaf springs, rear diff etc...just superb! It goes without saying that this car has never, ever been welded. A clear coat of under seal has been applied since new and the underside of the car is superb and very easy for anyone to inspect and appreciate.

Supplying dealer and period number plates are still fitted front and rear and the original supplying dealer rear window sticker is fully intact and un-faded. This car really is a true survivor and is just a visual delight and they are getting ever more difficult to find.

Internally, it's just sensational and 100% period 80s. No radio has ever been fitted. The dashboard and rear parcel shelf are quite simply remarkable and as good as you will ever see...they are still like brand new! Zero marks and zero sun fade. The rear seats and parcel shelf have been covered since new. The rear seats have still got the factory polythene cover...it isn't fully intact and it is very brittle, as you would expect after 38 years. The chocolate hounds tooth cloth seats are unmarked, both front and rear. The seat foam is exactly as it should be...no sagging or damage. The door cards are un-marked and the painted internal door tops are superb and free from scratching or damage. The chocolate deep pile carpet is free from damage. The head lining is tight and as clean as it would have been when new. All switch gear is fully functional and the two speed heater fan works perfectly and is quiet when in use. We very, very rarely use this phrase, but we will with this interior. It truly is time warp and will not be bettered.

The sports road wheels are in excellent condition and are all correctly date stamped as 1979. Four 'as new' tyres are fitted.

Mechanically, the car is excellent, as you would expect. It drives superbly and the 4 speed gearbox is perfect. The manual choke works exactly as it should and the car starts first time...every time and without fuss. It soon settles to a smooth and quiet idle. Benefitting from a fresh service including all oils and filters, fluids etc. A correct and new exhaust is due to be fitted this week along with new brake discs and pads and a fresh 12 months mot. A new radiator has also been fitted.

Supplied new and first registered on the 30th September 1980 by F H Ellis Ford of Settle ( now Peugeot ), this exceptional car is one of the last MK2 Ford Escorts and falls in line with the introduction of the MK3. All original hand books are present and are stamped by F H Ellis.

Due to the imminent launch of the all new front wheel drive Ford Escort MK3, F H Ellis were under pressure from Ford UK to register the car. They did so on the 30th September and the first owner took delivery on the 5th October. The original service book is even made out in the name of Mr Smith...not F H Ellis. This did mean that the car had one owner on the logbook even before the first owner took delivery. It has since had an additional three enthusiast owners and each of them has cherished the car in exactly the same way.

Complete with current V5, two keys, original pdi sheet, full handbook pack and old mot certificates and tax discs dating back to day one.

We see a lot of very good...excellent and exceptional cars come through our doors. We very seldom see 38 year old cars that are in such an original and un-molested state...and especially ones that present in this condition.
