This lovely little 1981 Triumph Spitfire is quite remarkable in the fact that it is un-welded...never plated or re-panelled. Having covered only 60,598 miles since new in the care of just three previous owners, this amazing little car really will be hard to replace. Anyone that knows these cars really will appreciate just what a rare find this car really is!
Finished in Russet Brown, it is very evident that this car has been garaged throughout it's life. The fact that it still wears all of it's factory fitted panels and has had zero welding carried out, we feel that there really can't be that many left that are still in an unrestored condition? The wings, wheel arches, bulkhead, scuttle panel, boot floor, doors etc are in a genuinely lovely condition. Around 2010 the car was treated to a high quality repaint and new decals were fitted. The paint is still excellent due to the car being stored correctly and covering virtually no miles since. It has formed part of a very impressive collection and prior to this, the car was museum displayed. Headlights, indicators and rear lights are damage and crack free. The bright work is very, very good and shows only very slight pitting upon close scrutiny. The roof is in excellent condition and is free from any damage or splitting. The rear window is also good. A full tonneau cover is present and there is also the correct half tonneau present. This is just a lovely example that presents incredibly well.
Internally the car is finished in Beige Houndstooth and this again is completely original. The seats are in excellent condition and display only a slight amount of stretching to the cloth. The dashboard is lovely and free from cracking. All switchgear is fully operational. The carpet is nice and clean and still retains it's pile.
The correct and original steel wheels are all shod with good tyres. The wheels are in a very good order and seem to be un-refurbished. The factory markings are still clearly visible and only a small amount of pitting is present...just adding to the originality in our eyes.
Mechanically the car is standard apart from the very beneficial unleaded cylinder head and uprated radiator. Gas struts have also been added under the bonnet and this makes lifting the bonnet so much easier. Being enthusiast owned from new, the car has been self serviced by it's 3 previous owners and there are loads of old mot certificates present to substantiate the low mileage. The car runs and drives very well. With a current mot until September 2018 this incredible little car is ready to be used and enjoyed.
